The Firecrest Ultra Cine Superslim 4x5.65 IRND filters are designed for all those times when you need a cinema camera setup with minimum weight, whether that’s to fly on a drone, Steadicam, gimbal, or just to lighten the load on your back when you have to carry your own kit. They are the lightest possible 4x5.65 cinema grade glass filter , weighing in at around half of an equivalent standard thickness 4mm ND filter, while maintaining the same excellent neutrality and optical quality that Firecrest filters have become renowned for.
This makes them the perfect solution to marry with ultra-lightweight matte boxes like the Bright Tangerine Misfit Atom. For ARRI standard matteboxes a dedicated 2mm filter tray from Formatt is available. This will allow the filters to be used in most Bright Tangerine, Chroziel, Wooden Camera and ARRI matteboxes.
I love the quality of the glass and the zero color shifts. I’m always worried to drop the super slims but there’s no difference then when I’m handling 4mm glass. The magnet case is a must to provide extra protection for the glass. Avoid the soft case.

I have 6 of the IRND filters in 4x5.6 in stops: 1,2,3,6 and 7 ...and they are all Formatt Hitech. I wanted to keep them all in the same brand and customer service has been great with me and I would not hesitate to buy more. P.S. I also have the round circular polarizer just haven’t shot with it yet but i expect to be happy, just like I am with the IRND filters. If I could be a Featured Artist, I would. www.garybrackin.com
