Introducing the Firecrest 100mm Filter Holder MKII
For the MKII, we went back to the drawing board and worked closely with an extensive team of industry leading photographers to build upon the successes of the MKI, whilst taking into account the feedback from our users in order to refine and improve upon every aspect of our holder.
Block specific wavelengths of urban lights for stunning nightscapes
I got two of these (1/8 & 1/4) and they are fantastic. All my other filters are from Formatt Hitech, and as usual they perform excellently!
Solid piece of gear. Took sometime to figure out how to use it on the camera.
The video you have out skipped the step I needed to know about. How about at least an online instruction book
And a step by step how to use video????
Delivers as promised. Filters out virtually all UV
Easy to order, delivery fast. Product as described- just what I was lookin for.
The starter kit is great and everything works and fits like a glove. I will be ordering more components in the near future to add to my kit.
Firecrest Ultra filters are just great. Neutral color and none of the many issues with resin filters.
Ryan went out of his way to get my items I ordered on their way and stepped in promptly seeing that my order had been taking too long. After receiving the final item he even helped me fix an issue.
Thanks for great customer service Ryan!
Super slim and lightweight. Very nice multi-coating with no change to exposure or colorcast.
Excellent, very satisfied with Holder and service
Thanks for the opportunity.
I have been largely happy with the holder.
I had an issue with the 86-86 adapter ring for the cpl, where it wouldn't rotate. I contacted support and they responded quickly and sent a replacement.
I feel that the operation of these rings, both the 86-86 and 86-82 adapters is quite stiff and intermittent which takes away from what is a great product and funtionality.
Excellent product! Love the slim concept fit enought my mattebox! Good job !
I have been using these fitlers for years and have found none better!
I purchased the Firecrest 100mm Holder Kit MKII and several 100x100mm Infrared controlled Natural Density filters with an additional adapter ring to meet my needs and a 6-filter pouch that comes in handy keep the filters safe. This was an international order and the team at Formatt Hitech USA was immensely helpful to get my selected items and ship them out. It seems that the pandemic had a great positive impact on couriers and the delivery was excellent and ahead of ETA.
The MKII kit comes with an excellent polarizer. I experimented sufficiently with the IRND filters to say that they are of a very good quality. I am not a photography pro and only have a few ND filters to compare the Firecrest IRND filters hence my verdict is more subjective than metrological.
Although there are good budget filters to be had and I am a fan of Hoya filters I learned that good filters come attached with a higher price tag. The Formatt Hightech IRND filters perform extremely well and I am aesthetically pleased with the images. The polarizer is excellent and in my environment of high natural light luminescence the are performing admirably.
The Firecrest 100mm Holder Kit MKII took a few moments to get used (there are some online videos as well on mounting etc.). It really is easy to mount and secure but I made sure with the camera a ground level that it was mounted securely before it went up on the tripod. I am more comfortable now to fit it to a tripod mounted camera after learning the ropes of mounting it.
The new holder has not let in any stray light around the edges thanks to the end caps (that's a great innovative touch and gets rid of the scarf or towel wrap I used before). After a snappy with the polarizer mounted, I check the exposure times for a given aperture and use one of the free ND calculator phone apps that are out there. It usually works out fine if lighting conditions do not change too much and once bulb settings and bulb exposure times are set Bob's your uncle.
Any filter holder system will be an investment and try before you buy is not often available. I can happily say that the Firecrest 100mm Holder Kit MKII and IRND filters are definitely great value for money.
I never got them?
